FAQ updated

My extremely short FAQ, located on the about page, has been updated with the following:

Q: Why Haiku?

A: Because sonnets are too much trouble. To illustrate, using Kämpfer as an example:

Akane-chan your bullets doth bewitch
My simple brain and bring to me a grin,
The way you fire at your teammate (bitch!)
And swing your heavy pistol at his chin.

How can he be so damn oblivious,
When your charms are so readily counted,
Your feverish desire furious,
Like a race horse ready to be mounted.

Who knows how long it will remain like this,
With him busy staring at his assets,
While you stand there waiting for his lame kiss,
So sad to those who love all your facets.

I only hope that, if I may be crass,
One day you will bust a cap in his ass.

V.S.

Akane, you’re hot,
And you really ought to shoot
That Natsuru kid.

See? Way too much trouble. Plus there’s no SZS-style minimum Japanese cultural standard connection….

Going back to Captcha

Akismet, I tried to love you, I really did. But every time I turned you on, you failed to return the favor. I know it’s probably me and not you, but I can’t handle you freaking out whenever someone wants to talk to me. So, it’s over. Your cousin Captcha isn’t quite as attractive, and she’s a little demanding, but at least she’s open to other people talking to me once she gives them permission. Sorry it didn’t work out.

Edit: Maybe not. I’ll try Akismet’s sister TypePad AntiSpam and see if she’s more agreeable….

Feed repeat

This morning I took the time to figure out why Animenano doesn’t like Atom feeds, and as a result I switched my Feedburner feed to pick up my RSS 2.0 template instead of my Atom one. The problem I have been having recently is that when I post something with a future date (usually a couple of hours in the future, because I have been unable to build a post backlog for a while) the post shows up on my site at the appointed time, but it appears on Animenano with a time stamp that matches when I originally published (the updated date) the entry. Though this isn’t a big deal for items that are posted a couple hours in the future, this would have been a real pain for items posted days in advance because they would show up with the original date and never make the front page of ‘nano. I think Hung changed the way that posts are handled recently, to deal with the entries that had been sticking at the top of the feed page for days and days, by switching the logic to recognize the “updated date” for feeds that have them (atom feeds or atom feeds run through Feedburner). To avoid the situation of having my posts automatically go to page 3 or lower, I switched to my RSS 2.0 feed that does not include an updated date variable. And because I switched the feed location, it caused the last 10 items in the feed to be duplicated. All of that to say… sorry for the feed spam. It shouldn’t happen again though.

Tag… improvement?

On the tag view page (accessed from the post tag links or the cloud at the right) I added a link near the top that will take the reader to an expanded post view. That is, clicking on the link will open a page with all of the “read more” or spoilered content exposed, which should save time compared to clicking on each individual post for the expanded content. White Album is currently the series with the most “hidden” content, but I expect that there will be more such posts in the future should such an “inspirational” anime come along again.
